Job Overview
The Driver will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation services for project staff and visitors. The role also involves vehicle maintenance, compliance with traffic regulations, and assisting with office errands when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safe and Efficient Transportation
Drive project staff and visitors to meetings, appointments, and field sites safely and punctually.
Ensure compliance with all local traffic laws and company driving regulations.
Adhere to scheduled driving assignments as directed by the Operations Manager.
2. Vehicle Maintenance and Safety Checks
Perform daily inspections of the vehicle, including checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, and engine performance.
Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and in excellent condition both inside and outside.
Promptly report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of vehicle registration, licensing, and insurance requirements.
3. Administrative and Logistical Support
Run official errands, such as delivering messages and documents, collecting mail, and assisting with visa applications.
Transport equipment and supplies necessary for program operations.
Assist in moving office furniture and heavy packages when needed.
4. Compliance and Safety Regulations
Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts at all times.
Maintain accurate vehicle logs to track mileage, fuel usage, and trip details.
Report any accidents or road incidents immediately to the supervisor and relevant authorities.
Stay informed on local driving laws and safety procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of Amman and its surrounding areas, including major roads, neighborhoods, airports, and government offices.
Valid driver’s license with no history of accidents.
Minimum of five years of experience working as a professional driver for a public or private organization.
Ability to lift and transport heavy packages when necessary.
Basic First Aid knowledge is an advantage.
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work extra hours when needed.
High level of responsibility, reliability, and professionalism.
Must be able to communicate in basic English for spoken and written instructions.
A secondary school diploma or equivalent vocational training is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience driving for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or diplomatic missions.
Previous training in defensive driving techniques.
Familiarity with humanitarian operations and logistics support.
Certification from a recognized driving school.
Up-to-date eye test certification.
