About the Role
Objectives of the Programme:
To ensure effective WHO Country Office (WCO) presence by implementing WHO country cooperation strategies aligned with national health and development goals and harmonized with the United Nations Country Teams.
Key Responsibilities
Draft a wide range of documents, including correspondence, financial and payment instructions, and signatory letters.
Extract and compile data from various sources to prepare reports, briefings, and spreadsheets.
Provide basic translation assistance between English and the local language.
Manage the asset register, ensuring regular updates and coordinating data collection from field offices.
Oversee service providers and shared costs for UN agencies, ensuring timely contract issuance/renewals and payment processing.
Maintain WCO buildings and assets, coordinating repairs, maintenance, and vehicle servicing.
Review travel itineraries and travel requests for compliance with policies and entitlements.
Verify travel agency invoices and initiate payment instructions.
Liaise with the Global Service Centre (GSC) on travel-related purchase orders, receipt tracking, and payment follow-ups.
Handle the issuance and renewal of UN Laissez-Passer (UNLPs) and UN Family Certificates (UNFCs).
Coordinate visa processing for WHO travelers.
Respond to travel-related queries and provide guidance on applicable rules.
Represent WHO in non-technical meetings with UN agencies and partners on administrative matters.
Train and guide staff on WHO rules and administrative procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Essential: Completion of secondary education with formal training in administration and/or travel.
Desirable: University degree in public or business administration or a related field.
Note: Only degrees from institutions accredited in the WHED Database will be considered.
Experience:
Essential: Minimum of 8 years of relevant administrative experience, including in the travel industry.
Desirable: Experience within the UN system.
Skills:
Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
Ability to manage time and stress effectively.
Sound judgment and the ability to work independently.
Capability to train and support administrative staff.
Familiarity with WHO systems and procedures is an asset.
Languages
Essential: Expert knowledge of English and the local language.
Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of French.

Remuneration & Benefits
Annual Base Salary: Starting at JOD 20,280 (subject to mandatory deductions).
Leave: 30 days of annual leave.
Other Benefits: Pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable.

This vacancy may be used to fill other similar positions at the same grade.
